Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano

MAKIA like the other airport also witnessed a decrease in passenger traffic in the first quarter of the year 2006. With 32,135 passengers and 49,312 passengers that traveled on the domestic and international wings respectively, there was a 24% and 13% decrease compared to the first quarter of 2005.

PROJECTS

1. The new domestic terminal building under construction has reached 90% completion stage. It is hoped that the building would be completed before November 2006.
   
   
2. Also under construction is a new fire station, completion of this building has been stalled by lack of funds.
   
   
3. Resurfacing of the runway has since been completed; provision of new airfield lighting has also been made. With the completion of this project MAKIA boast of one of the best runways in Nigeria.
   
   
4. Of the entire nations airport only MAKIA has a complete perimeter fence in place.
